Admin assistance required please
A well known regular WHOer messaged me yesterday to ask if WHO had finally ceased to exist cos he's been unable to connect to it, and only got "oops, we are unable to find that site" etc.

I told him it was working for me.

This morning he sent me this:

Tried connecting via Firefox & Edge on PC and Safari on IPad and continue to get a message stating the server can’t be found. Can you ask Admin if they have any ideas please?

He's been around long enough to know to try wiping his knob on the screen, so I assume he's already done that.

I has this too briefly.
Looks as though the sites DNS entry had dropped off the BT DNS servers for a while. No idea why as whois says that it expires April 2024.
It came back though.

Same as zeb, yesterday. Kept getting that DNS waffle, can't remember the wording, and had to keep refreshing the page, or more often, closing down then opening a new window.

A benefit of Brexit maybe?

Glad it's not just me. Was especially bad Thursday when every other attempt to connect was met by that message. Was a little better after deleting all cookies etc from Microsoft Edge but had same issue trying from Chrome. Better now but still sporadically does it.

Not happened to me but I've been told it happens when you have a Spurs site open at the same time.

Yep, also got (and am still getting) the following message:

This site can’t be reachedCheck if there is a typo in www.westhamonline.net.
If spelling is correct, try running Windows Network Diagnostics.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Assumed on Thursday when it first appeared that Manuel had finally got his wish.
Actually DID try the old knob wipe on my phone, but got nothing but dirty looks from my fellow passengers on the train into Charing Cross.

I thought that maybe the site had finally died. But apparently this happened to everyone except BRANDED, so Friday must have been just him talking to himself. What a nightmare scenario.

it actually seemed really good for a day. No cunts. No stalkers and idiots.

I actually thought it had closed down yesterday myself kept getting this site is unsafe sign.
Tried it with a VPN and eventually it came on but after reading all the petty arguments by the same suspects I'm not sure if it's a good thing that it's still going.

Re: Admin assistance required please
When I use windows, my first step to try and resolve the problem is to flush the dns cache (Start > Command Prompt > type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter).

However as it seems to be happening to people from all over the shop on different devices I doubt that will help.

The site itself responds to pings and a traceroute command gives a valid path to the server suggesting it's a fault on the server itself, so, until someone opens it up and takes a look there's probably not much that can be done.

An expert will be along shortly to give you a proper answer.

Actually got excited thinking this dump had finally closed down so went onto other West Ham chat forums and not one single mention about it being down so no one really cares anymore as it's basically around 10 posters in total anyway.

Shut the cunt down and do us all a favour

Who orders you to log on and post, and why do you obey them?

Re: Admin assistance required please
At its best, this site is/has been brilliant. Informative, good chats and utterly hilarious at times. It lets things go that others would ban you for.

The solution is to make it better, both in the technical (speed, etc) and for content. If the tosser who's responsible for technical stuff won't cooperate, then the only answer is to change the name/address. It's happened before. And don't forget that every members has some responsibility for what the site is.

Any suggestions for a new name?

Do we have a contingency plan in place if this site ever dies?

If it goes down I will keep an eye on KUMB as I’d expect something to pop up.
